Kennedy's facial contortions during the President's State of the Union message, SNS has tracked the reason for the Senator's obvious unrest. While awaiting the President's arrival, Kennedy was handed an envelope containing copies of a photograph and as observed by SNS, immediately pushed his way through the Democrats seated in the Chamber and talked with Cong. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Tom Daschele. They in turn, sought their fellow anti-war, pro-Saddam party members and an effort was mounted to reach Democratic candidates Kerry, Dean and Clark. It was not until after the media had given Kerry top billing while the President was exiting the Chamber at the end of the address, that a meeting was hastily called in order to deal with the evidence of how former President Clinton had released Saddam after he was captured just prior to the 1996 election. A Congressional Page who asked to not be identified, told SNS that he had overheard "yelling and swearing when they all met in the Democratic Cloakroom after midnight." "They're scared the public will find out the reason Clinton let Saddam go was because he was afraid his fellow draft dodging cowards would turn against him and he didn't want to lose the profits his supporters were making on Iraqi oil. My Daddy fought in Viet Nam and every time I hear Kerry run his mouth about his military record, I think of how he and Jane Fonda and the rest of the protesters helped Ho Chi Minh kill more of our troops by letting him think America didn't support the war. The same thing goes for him today, along with Clark and that draft dodger Dean. No wonder Saddam's terrorist supporters keep attacking our troops. They think those lunkheads speak for America." At that point, the Page presented SNS with a copy of the photograph which he had secured when one of the "lunkheads" had left his copy in the cloakroom. A call to Cong. Pelosi's office to ascertain whether news of the photograph's existence was the reason for her frozen faced presentation of the Democratic rebuttal following the address, was not returned.
