L.A. TIMES APOLOGIZES TO DAVIS
L.A. TIMES APOLOGIZES TO DAVIS by: G.Marnier - SatireNewsService In a desperate last minute effort to defeat Arnold Schwarzenegger, Davis campaign staffer Lyon Daly sent a morphed photograph of the governor to the L.A. Times three days before the re-call vote. In the frenzy of interviewing hundreds of women in order to substantiate their story that Arnold had groped his way to stardom, the editors mislaid the photograph and did not find it before they went to press on election day. The picture was intended to downplay the "Terminator's" physical attractiveness by showing that Davis was equally endowed. Speaking off the record, an assistant editor at The Times met with SNS in the paper's underground parking lot and said she was disgusted with the way the campaign was covered. "Would we run the story of Davis physically assaulting his staff? No. All we heard around the news room was 'Get Arnold. Anyway you can'." While looking over her shoulder and covering her mouth with her hand, she added: "The guys upstairs called Davis and said they were really sorry. Would they have used it? You bet. Would anybody have believed it? Democrats would have. They don't have that much contact with reality." Calls to Daly to ascertain whose body had been used for the doctored picture were not returned.
