With the Pentagon's statement that "Major combat is over," French President Jacques Chirac issued a statement entitled "Kiss and make up," in which he announced that French troops are now training for the possibility that maybe they will be available for whatever might be decided by U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan and other European leaders about the role France will play in post-war Iraq.
Field Marshall C. C. Pantees, commander of Les Twits, the most elite brigade in the French Army, assured SNS that his men are fully prepared.
"We are fiercely devoted to showing that we can react appropriately to whatever is expected of us. We have a long history of defending our shores. We will show the world what we are made of."
